September 2, 2015On Saturday the 29th of August, Bendigo saw the United Patriots front (UPF) converged on their Town Hall assisting local lobby group oppose the construction of a Islamic Mosque planned to be constructed. An estimated four hundred local residents, people from the wider Bendigo community and supporters of the UPF came together to show the Bendigo council they do not want the mosque which is costing upwards of $6 million dollars and housing 347 muslims to go forward.
Right wing group UPF was counter protested by leftists groups No Room for Racism and the Socialists Alliance. Victorian Police and special forces were heavily present in the North western Victorian town which saw part of the city centre shut down on friday afternoon in preparation for the Rally.
